Tricolor Khadi soot mala, better known as Khadi Gundi is a symbol of pride and an expression of Indian-ness. Its origin dates back to the pre-independence era when Indians greeted each other with soot mala, a tradition which continued for sometime post-independence before it was replaced by floral garlands. This soot mala is an attempt to revive the old Indian tradition which is not only environment-friendly but can also be preserved as a souvenir for a very very longer period. Hand-woven by the women artisans in Bihar, from where Gandhi ji kicked off his Satyagrah, Khadi soot mala creates livelihood for many Khadi artisan families.
